This is a delicious and sophisticated spot in downtown New Rochelle, with some valet parking if you need it (we lucked out with a free Sunday spot a block away). The service was attentive and friendly, and the place was bustling with a brunch crowd. We had a hearty late lunch before a big event, and thoroughly enjoyed fried zucchini sticks, baked ziti, and a fantastic dish of fresh cooked scallops over savory mushroom medley risotto. The nice cappuccino and strong cup of black coffee after was just the ticket. Our waitress was kind, and sitting in the former car dealership space was a treat - huge ceilings, vintage details, and a movie set feel.

It was my first time at this restaurant. Food was great and staff were very friendly. (Pictures include octopus salad, chicken parmesan, shrimp scampi and chocolate lava cake). Parking: There is valet, and no parking lot for this restaurant. There are municipal parking lot and meter parkings on the Main Street.

The food was excellent and the portions were generous. The drinks were really tasty and the wait staff was on point. It's a good spot for a business meeting, or a nice little date.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ What an incredible New Year’s Eve at Modern From the moment we walked in, the energy was perfect—great crowd, great music, and an upscale vibe that really set the tone for ringing in the New Year the right way. The food and drinks were on point all night, and the atmosphere was lively without feeling overcrowded. Huge shoutout to John, Sebastian, and Cesar they were absolutely outstanding. Attentive, professional, and genuinely made sure everyone was having an amazing time. Service like that takes the experience to another level. If you’re looking for a spot in New Rochelle that knows how to throw a proper New Year’s party, Modern delivered across the board. Already looking forward to the next one. 🥂

I really liked everything about the place. It's pretty Westchester Italian, upscale but not over the top. Best meal (strip steak with potato croquette and string beans) I've had in ages. And while prices have kept up with inflation, they weren't over the top, under $50 for entrees and under $20 for specialty cocktails (as of early 2026). The service was quick and efficient, friendly and attentive not sappy. And if you are sensitive to noise, the 2-story dining room allows noise to rise so even with giggling tipsy moms and high school kids in the next section it wasn't too loud. Soundtrack of 80s pop rock fit the vibe. Holiday decorations looked good, tasteful. Really glad I stopped by. There is also a bar on the side if waiting. Might be worth checking into seeing if they take reservations if coming during a Thurs-Sat dinner. They seem to also have a brunch special which while pricey might be worth checking out.

Modern is one of those restaurants where you really need to know what to order. I’ve been there a few times, and while not every dish stands out, some are truly excellent—especially the scallops, burrata salad, lobster ravioli, and baked clams. The menu is large and can feel overwhelming. I tried a few items outside the highly recommended ones on Google, and those were more on the mediocre side. That said, the place has a great vibe, the staff is friendly, and it’s lively in a good way—unlike some other spots in the area.

Modern Restaurant & Lounge truly lives up to its name. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere set the perfect tone, a beautifully curated space that strikes the right balance between sophisticated and welcoming. The staff were attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Every interaction felt personal, not transactional, which made the entire experience that much more enjoyable. And the food, simply outstanding. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, with flavors that kept us talking long after we left. If you’re looking for a dining experience that checks every box, Modern Restaurant & Lounge delivers on all fronts. We’ll absolutely be back.

Loved this place!! I met my friends there for an early dinner today and we were very satisfied. The restaurant is cozy and has the perfect, warm atmosphere where one can sit down, have drinks, relax and have a conversation over good food. Our waitress, Perla, was so friendly and attentive that she deserves a special shout-out . She checked on us from time to time without making us feel rushed. We ordered the grandma's meatballs and the fried zucchini for appetizers. Delicious! Then we had the Chicken Marsala, Chicken Fancese and Veal Marsala. The portions were plentiful, well seasoned and cooked to perfection. We ate well and had enough to take home. We finished with the creme brulee cheesecake and the tiramisu. The restaurant is well located and offers valet parking after 5:00pm. Prices are reasonable. We will definitely visit again soon.
